Auction Results 30 Mar 2019

Domain released their preliminary results today.

The final results from last week continue the anemic trends in terms of volumes. Melbourne in particular is weak compared to last year.

Sydney is looking a little stronger, but will likely settle again as more results come in later.

Brisbane listed 114 auctions, reported 56, sold 23 and 11 were withdrawn, giving a Domain clearance of 34%.

Adelaide listed 74, reported 49 and sold 26, with 1 withdrawn, giving a Domain clearance of 52%.

Canberra listed 51 auctions, reported 40 and sold 14, with 1 withdrawn, giving a Domain clearance of 34%.

Sydney listed 639 auctions, reported 353 and sold 266, with 94 withdrawn, giving a Domain clearance of 59.5%.

Melbourne listed 803 auctions, reported 589 and sold 318, with 33 withdrawn, giving a Domain clearance of 52.7%.

Auction Results 23 March 2019

Domain released their preliminary results today.

The weakish results continue with a national final clearance rate of 47.7% on ongoing low volumes last week. Nothing here suggests an uptick in the market. Similar trends so far today.

Canberra reported 49 listed properties, 42 reported auctions and 21 sold with 3 withdrawn, giving a preliminary clearance on a Domain basis of 47%.

Adelaide reported 62 listed properties, 35 reported auctions and 22 sold, with 5 withdrawn, giving a preliminary clearance on a Domain basis of 55%.

Brisbane listed 76 auctions, reported 38 and sold 24 with 3 withfrawn, giving a Domain clearance of 34%.

Auction Results 16 March 2019

Domain has released their preliminary results for today.

The weak results continue, with a final clearance rate last week of 45.4% on very low volumes, and Melbourne continues lower than Sydney. Once again the results today are off low volumes, and will likely settle lower.

In Brisbane there were 75 listed, 32 reported and 13 sold, with 4 withdrawn giving a Domain clearance of 36%.

In Adelaide, 70 were listed, 36 reported and 20 sold, with 4 withdrawn giving a Domain clearance of 50%.

Canberra listed 64, reported 43 and sold 24, with 9 withdrawn, giving a Domain clearance of 46%.

Auction Results 09 Mar 2019

Domain released their preliminary auction results for the 9th March.

The final clearance last week landed at 48%, which is significantly lower than last year, and the preliminary data suggests more of the same with 297 sold compared with 665 last year.

Brisbane listed 86 homes, reported 42 and 20 were sold with 5 withdrawn, giving a Domain clearance of 43%.

Adelaide listed 38, reported 22 and sold 12 with 4 withdrawn, giving a Domain clearance of 46%.

Canberra listed 24, reported 14 and sold 5 with 4 withdrawn, giving a Domain clearance of 28%.

[Apologies for the late post this week.]

Auction Results 02 Mar 2019

Domain released their preliminary results for today.

Similar trends with last weeks final results giving a national clearance of 47.6%. Preliminary clearance is 54%, with Sydney sitting at 64.5% and Melbourne at 52.7%, with 1,699 listed (compared with 2,409 last year) and 1,072 reported (2,409 last year). So lower volumes are clearance counts. We will see where the final results settle.

I discussed the true state of play with property insider Edwin Almeida this week and we discussed how the auction data is collected, and whether it can be relied upon.

Brisbane listed 78 auctions, reported 35 and sold 11 with 9 withdrawn giving a Domain clearance of 25%.

Adelaide listed 64 auctions, reported 34 and sold 17 with 12 withdrawn giving a Domain clearance of 37%.

Canberra listed 86 auctions, 66 reported and 27 sold with 6 withdrawn giving a Domain clearance of 38%.

Auction Results 23 Feb 2019

Domain released their preliminary results for today.

The clearance rates are a little higher than before Christmas, but on very low volumes, and both volumes and clearance rates are way down from a year ago. Little to suggest a real bounce.

The final results from last week came in at 51.1% nationally, with Melbourne below Sydney, which is consistent with what we are seeing in the Melbourne market, which is easing back at a faster rate.

Brisbane listed 101 auctions, reported 47 and 10 were withdrawn. 21 were sold giving a Domain clearance rate of 37%.

Adelaide listed 60 and reported 32. 23 were sold and 2 withdrawn, giving a clearance rate of 68% on the Domain basis.

Canberra listed 80 and reported 53 with 29 sold and 3 withdrawn. This gives a Domain clearance of 52%.

Auction Results 16 Feb 2019

Domain released their preliminary auction results for today.

Weakness in the market remains, with the final clearance rates last week at 48.1%, [Preliminary 52.8%] compared with 62.2% a year ago, and the final volume was 341 sold [Preliminary 292 sold] compared with 857 a year earlier. Funny how the market is fixed on the percentage clearance rather than the actual count!

Results this week saw the preliminary results based on 470 results so far, compared with 292 last week.

Canberra reported 44 listed, 35 reported and 18 sold, with 4 withdrawn, giving a Domain clearance of 46%.

Adelaide listed 60, reported 39 and sold 31 with 6 withdrawn, giving a Domain clearance of 69%.

Brisbane listed 54, reported 27 and sold 11 with 2 withdrawn, giving a Domain clearance of 38%.

We also note that more properties are reported without a declared price and the data INCLUDES properties sold prior to auction. Final clearance results will likely be lower.

New Year; Same Old Auction Results

Now the new year has kicked off, we are getting the preliminary auction results from Domain.

It seems that despite the hype (all those “willing buyers” the agents keep talking about), the volume and rate of auction clearances appear to be tracking the weakness late last year.

Once again, their 40% floor means the the final results both nationally and in Melbourne are not showing. National result was 36.0% last week, compared with 63% last year!

They report that in Brisbane 64 auctions were listed, 30 reported and 10 sold, with 17 withdrawn making a Domain clearance rate of 21%.

In Adelaide, 56 were listed for auction, 25 were reported and 15 sold, with 4 withdrawn, giving a Domain clearance rate of 52%.

In Canberra, 39 were listed for auction, 30 reported and 16 sold, with 1 withdrawn, giving a Domain clearance rate of 52%.

Final results will settle in a few days, as normal.
